This scholarship commemorates the legacy of love left by Cecilia Kathryn "Lily Kate" Powell, age 9, of Lawrenceville, Georgia. Lily Kate lived life to the absolute fullest. She had an amazing and vivid imagination, loved to read constantly, played piano, performed theater, and danced through life.
The scholarship supports young students like Lily Kate who love to sing, to play an instrument, to dance, to draw, by helping them access education and training in fine arts.
The scholarship is awarded annually in the amount of $500 until funds are depleted, and can be applied toward fine arts lessons in the following categories: musical instruments, private voice, community chorus, classical dance, and studio art. Applications are reviewed and awarded in the spring semester. The award is then sent to the designated fine arts instructor or program and applied toward the recipient’s tuition and fees. All applicants must be public school students and residents of Augusta (Richmond County) or the city of North Augusta.
